Young Picassos
What to Expect:
Young Picassos is a hands-on Art Program for children ages 7+ who want to learn how to paint. This program is located at the Greater Wausau Children’s Museum. Registration is limited to 8 students per session.
Each session is 90 minutes and will include introduction on technique and skill, including use of the color wheel and types of brushes. Students will be encouraged to explore what they love about art and assess their interests and skill level. Different levels of painting instruction are available: from outlined canvases for those just beginning to open canvases for those who are more advanced.
Parents may choose to drop off their children for this program or stay on premises.
About the Artist
Jean Rustad - Johnson has a varied background in art, including paint, metals, and ceramics. She prefers to work with paint the most as it brings her joy to create interest with a blend of colors.
She has enjoyed painting for musical theatre background sets, painting for local schools, teaching her family and friends, and managed her employer’s local art program for 12 years. She is especially proud of spending time with and teaching her granddaughter to paint, who has developed into a talented young artist.
Mrs. Johnson sees a colorful world, one in which stirs the imagination and she hopes to inspire her young student’s imagination and guide them though artistic instruction.
