Meet our Founders


Shelly Bovet

Shelly Bovet is a mother of five and holds a bachelor of arts degree in psychology and has a special interest in early childhood development and nutrition. Shelly has volunteered as the Wausau Area Montessori Charter School Parent Connect Coordinator and enjoyed developing and coordinating the school's enrichment activities and fundraising efforts. Shelly has also directed and taught Kindermusik and worked on the Wausau SCHOOL Project cardiovascular research through Aspirus, focusing on the nutritional health of children.

Dr. Philip Bovet

Dr. Philip Bovet is originally from Antigo and works as a family medicine physician at Aspirus in Wausau. While studying at UW-Madison, he worked as an autism line therapist, elementary and high school tutor, and helped children living with domestic abuse. During medical school, he was Pediatric Club President, coordinating community service activities that focused on helping children. Currently, he serves on the Wausau Area Montessori Charter School Governance Council.

Michael Wridt

Michael Wridt is a parent of 4 kids and 2 grandkids and serves the Wausau community as the Principal of Wausau Area Montessori Charter School. He has played an integral role in the success of this public school as enrollment has doubled over the past five years. Michael has expertise in instructional leadership, student centered curriculum development, and school improvement. He is inspired by creating strong school cultures that nurture students' internal motivation to become life long learners and leaders. Michael works to build strong, lasting healthy relationships with families and the community by supporting the development of every child’s social, emotional and physical wellbeing. Michael also served as Vice-President of the board of directors for the Central Wisconsin Children's Museum in Stevens Point.
